IAM Cycling
The Circuit Cycliste Sarthe-Pays de Loire finished with the final stage having been won by Axel Domont (AG2R La Mondiale), while Ramunas Navardauskas (Garmin-Sharp) held onto the his overall lead.
Once again, IAM Cycling rode hard and went all out to try and grab a stage win. Rubens Bertogliati, one of the directeurs sportifs with Kjell Carlström, declared himself satisfied with the performance of his riders.
IAM Cycling showed a lot of heart throughout all the work they did on every stage. We didnt end up with the luck to put the finishing touches on our efforts, but everyone tried his best to secure a victory. With real dignity they held to the notion of one for all and all for one. I enjoyed the sense of unity among the riders.
Before he leads the riders at the Flèche Brabançonne and the GP de Denain this coming Wednesday and Thursday, Bertogliati has a chance to reflect on the Sarthe stage.
We developed a strategy to trap the sprinters. In the end, the guys showed themselves well. Although Gustav Larsson just missed out on the stage win, I am really happy for him. He took a very active part in the escape. I hope this fourth place will give him the confidence to try other things in the races to come. Today, he showed his true level and we can celebrate that.
