By now his injured shoulder is no longer bothering Roger Kluge, which will allow him to gear up properly for his goals in the Flandrian classics.

The 28 year old German, who just celebrated his birthday on February 5th, is a newcomer to IAM Cycling and managed to amaze his director sportif Marcello Albasini at the Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana, which was won by Michal Kwiatowski (Omega Pharma-Quickstep) from Poland.

“I am definitely surprised.  Today Roger showed his courage after having been dropped on the first climb.  He showed incredible presence of mind even though the profile of the race did not match his strengths.”

The rider himself wants to believe that he will be able to build up to his top form in time for his targeted races in mid-March.

“I’ll be 100% ready for Gand-Wevelgem.  Today the race unfolded at a brisk pace.  When I found my own rhythm, I was able to join back up with the lead pack, but I ended up cracking in the final.  I still have some things I can improve.  Every day I see progress, though.  I am working hard in Mallorca, and I will stay here another ten days to train.  My first real test will come at the Kürne-Bruxelles-Kürne in early March.  There I will be able to say where I really am in my preparation.”
