IAM Cycling
The end of the season is fast approaching for many riders. After a busy program, Marcel Wyss is one of them.
And for all, the demanding 242 kilometer Tour of Lombardy is a fitting challenge to lower the curtain on the season in the some of the most beautiful surroundings. After securing 20th place at the Milan-Turin, which is the oldest race on the Italian schedule and finishes in breathtaking surroundings in front of the Basicila di Superga, Wyss evaluated his form and his chances.
I feel good. I have good legs and am not lacking in motivation. To win once in Lombardy, it is a dream.
The Swiss member of IAM Cycling does not have overly positive memories of his previous attempts at the Tour of Lombardy, the race of the falling leaves:
I have started this race twice, but never finished. I crashed out in my first attempt, and in my second, I had to quit after just 30 kilometers because I had not fully recovered from knee surgery. However, I am still super motivated especially since this particular one-day classic matches my capabilities as a rider. I have never been in such good form at this point in October. I definitely have set a personal goal to finish in the top-10.
