“I’ve never experienced anything like that in my career.  The guys have really achieved their goals for today.  They managed the race perfectly.  Before the start of the day, I warned them against having too much confidence or feeling complacent.  Obviously they took me at my word.”

At the end of the 169.75 kilometer Tour of Bern, Marcello Albasini was thrilled.

Marcel Wyss had taken the victory in dominating fashion.

Then with Sébastien Reichenbach in 2nd, Rémi Cusin in 3rd and Matthias Brändle in 4th, IAM Cycling’s domination of the 33 kilometer circuit around Lyss was complete.

With five IAM Cycling riders in the main break away of fifteen, the members of the Swiss Pro Continental team left only the crumbs for their opponents.

Following up from his aggressive ride at the Tour of Romandie, Matthias Brändle struck out on his own with 45 kilometers to go till the finish.

Sébastien Reichenbach was next to try his luck shortly thereafter, taking with him Nicolas Baldo.  Finally Marcel Wyss and Remi Cusin made the junction to the first three.

Alone against four IAM Cycling riders, the Français d’Atlas was powerless.

After stepping down from the podium, Marcel Wyss was radiant.

“To win practically in my own backyard almost gave me chills.  I’d never won a single day race like this, just prologues or stage races.  The team performed faultlessly and I thank them for their confidence.  We were all at the same level today, but I took my opportunity at the perfect moment.”
