The Swiss Pro Continental team will be the squad to beat in the race which is run over five laps of a 33.95km circuit.  Returning to racing after two weeks of active recovery, Patrick Schelling knows the difficulty of the test facing them.

“In 2008, I finished 2nd in the Junior category.  This is a race that includes a tough climb to make the selection.  Since we enter the event as a full team, the other elite squads will naturally try to maneuver us into carrying the weight of the race.  We will take the responsibility.”  The 23 year old from Saint-Gallen will focus on helping his teammates.  “My last race was at Flèche Wallonne.  I returned from Belgium with a fever so I had to stop for five days.  I am still not at my desired level in spite of the fact that I have been able to resume training.  I need to find the rhythm of competition again.  After the race in Frankfurt, the Tour of Bern will fall right at the best time for me.”
