IAM Cycling has not been shy about forcing their place at the front of races since joining the big league this year.

Again proving themselves to be suited to the toughest races on the calendar, IAM Cycling put in a strong team performance at the Tour of Flanders, which was dominated by the Swiss Fabian Cancellara (RadioShack).

With the rest of the best left in Cancellara’s wake, Heinrich Haussler put himself in the strong position to battle for 4th place, eventually taking 6th place, making it his 7th top-10 result of the season.

“I am satisfied with my day, even if I wanted to attack after the Patterberg.  But I was alone at that moment, and there was too much wind to hope to make it stick,” Haussler said.

Sébastien Hinault also distinguished himself throughout the day, even making a strong attack on the last time up the Kwaremont.

“I was feeling good and saw that that would be a good time to make a try for an escape.  I took five guys with me and we had a good dig for a while.  I had hoped to be there more at the finish for Heinrich, but I was overwhelmed that last time up the Patterberg, which is a shame.”

Martin Elmiger, who along with Hinault is among the most experienced riders on the team, dropped out of the lead group following the massive work done by Aleksejs Saramotins and Marco Bandiera.

“We really had a great race.  I had to let go of the group on the last climb up the Kwaremont.  But the team really gave its all.”

Manager Serge Beucherie echoed Elminger’s comments:

“I am very proud of them; the team really showed its strength with multiple riders there at the final.”

Directeur Sportif Eddy Seigneur felt his riders executed their plans to perfection.

“Today we figured prominently in the race, and forced RadioShack to do the bulk of the work.  The riders followed their instructions and we had Heinrich in the good position he needed for the final.  I take my hat off to them.  Chapeau!”
