GP cycliste de Québec et Montréal – Mathias Frank – We have a great team with which we can hope to get good results –

For the first time since it joined the professional peloton in January of 2013, IAM Cycling will be racing on the North American continent.  That is because the GP de Quebec and Montreal are on the WorldTour calendar having won great acclaim thanks to the enthusiasm, passion and the unwavering commitment of Serge Arsenault.  The two one-day races will also be used by many riders, who are not racing the Vuelta a Espagna, as a dress rehearsal before the World Championships scheduled to take place in Richmond, Virginia, two weeks later.

Anxious to make a good impression for this final portion of the season that has lately been more marked by controversy related to the on-course security than the exploits of the racers, the IAM Cycling managers have chosen eight riders who are ambitious and determined to occupy the center stage.   After his strong 8th place at the Tour de France, Mathias Frank is motivated by the opportunity to perform well with his teammates on the other side of the Atlantic.  “After having had a great week for a family vacation, I was able to recover from my efforts at the Tour, which was my main goal of the season.  Right away I felt good at the Arctic Race of Norway, and taking 5th place overall at the finish was not only confirmation, but reassured me.  Back in Switzerland, I was able to do a lot of good training in perfect conditions.  So now I am very happy to go again to Canada.  In 2012, I already had the chance to participate in both races while I was with BMC.  The circuits are well balanced and selective thanks to the presence of some serious hills.  Normally, those races suit punchy riders best, but a climber like Robert Geesink has also found a way to win.  Everything will depend on how the race unfolds.  We are going with a great team, and we can hope to get equally strong results.”
