THE FACT OF THE DAY
For the second consecutive day, IAM Cycling found itself in the spotlight at the end of a stage for the Giro. In Pinerolo, Stefan Denifl, Heinrich Haussler, Roger Kluge, Vegard Stake Laengen, and Marcel Wyss climbed onto the ceremonial stage in order to receive the award for the best team tally of points for the previous day. Roger Kluges victory added to the 15th place that Heinrich Haussler notched, gave the Swiss team the chance to prolong the celebration.
THE ESCAPEE
Roger Kluge. The winner of the day in Cassano d’Adda has yet to show his best. During this longest stage of the Giro, the German strongman spent over 200 kilometers in the lead with 23 other riders before eventually falling prey to the steep percentages of the days most demanding climb.
THE MENU OF THE DAY
Racing between Pinerolo and Risoul, the survivors of the Giro thus far will be facing more than 33 kilometers of climbing within the stage that will last 162 kilometers in total. The summit at the very top of the Agnello, effectively the roof of the Giro at 2744 meters above sea level, and the final climb to the finish will give the overall favorites a chance to battle for the podium.
