Mathias Frank’s season began smoothly at the races organized around Palma de Mallorca.  The Tour of Oman and the GP Lugano gave him the chance to build his form without pressure before lending his teammates essential support at Paris-Nice.

The rider from the Swiss town of Lucerne, though he now calls Basel home, has the upcoming Swiss stage races high on his list of goals, which means that he will be anxious to start posting some results for his new Swiss team.

“I felt more comfortable every day at Paris-Nice.  The legs responded well and I even allowed myself the chance to put in a few attacks at the end of the test.  I liked the feeling.”

Having already raced at Critérium International last year, Mathias Frank is ready for the challenge, especially since he is a member of a competitive team led by Rubens Bertogliati.

“I’m going to test myself in Corsica.  I have already performed well on both days at Critérium.  While the time trial is a little short, it also means that we lose less time in relation to the specialists.  And the second day that features the queen stage with the summit finish could be well suited to me.  There will be plenty to do since we are all able to perform well on this type of terrain.”
