After having lost Aleksejs Saramotins to a broken scaphoid from a fall at Paris-Roubaix, IAM Cycling must now also deal with losing another strong rider due to a crash.

Thomas Löfkvist has been the latest casualty in the recent spate of professionals being hit by cars while out training and as a result will miss Amstel Gold (Sunday 14 April), la Flèche Wallonne (17 April), Liège-Bastogne-Liège (21 April) and the Tour of Romandie (23-28 April).

Löfkvist was knocked down by a car at the end of his training session and suffered a compound fracture to his index finger on his left hand.  The IAM Cycling rider has been examined by experts at the Geneva University Hospital (HUG) and will be operated on in the evening.  He will be unavailable for competition an estimated six weeks.
