The first year of existence for IAM Cycling has gone better than anyone could have expected.

With invitations to all possible spring classics as well as the Paris-Nice, Tour of Romandie and Tour of Switzerland, the first year team out of Switzerland can hardly be deeply disappointed in having missed out on an invitation to the 2013 Tour de France.

Having received word of the decision from Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), Michel Thétaz, founder and CEO of IAM SA (IAM Investment Funds) was not somber despite this disappointment.

“We of course understand the dilemma the organizers face.  They receive endless requests but have only a limited number of spaces.  Don’t forget that we didn’t exist before the beginning of this year.  Despite our belief in ourselves and desire to succeed, we have not managed to catch enough interest from the ASO.  We respect their decision and will redouble our efforts to be included in the line-up in the coming seasons.”

For his part, the Sport Manager of IAM Cycling, Serge Beucherie could not quite hide his disappointment.

“We are disappointed not to be selected for the Tour de France, mainly because we have the talent and resources.  W we are on a sporting level to compete at the Tour.  Naturally we respect the ASO’s decision, and will only have to work even harder next year. “
