The Tour de l’Ain, is a race Johann Tschopp knows well and feels passionate about.

The IAM Cycling rider from Miège, Switzerland, has been at the start of this race four times, and finished well placed three of those times (5th in 2007, 16th in 2009, 8th in 2010).

“This is a great race that I have always appreciated taking part in.  The route most often fits my strengths.  In addition, there is no stopwatch!” he said with a laugh. “But I can tell you there is plenty for us to do at the Tour de l’Ain.”

The man from the Valais region, still glowing from having taken second at the Trophée Matteotti behind his friend and teammate Sébastien Reichenbach ten days ago, is motivated and ready to shine again.

“I’ll try to enjoy my current peak form and the momentum from the success in Italy.  The race may be animated for no other reason than each team will only contain six riders.  There is a very beautiful finish at the top of the côté de Lelex.  It will be a bit more complicated in the last stage since the very difficult climb up the col du Grand Colombier does not actually serve as the arrival.”
