IAM Cycling excelled on two fronts in the last Sunday of September.

Impressive rides by IAM Cycling riders at the World Championships in Florence (Brändle, Saramotins, Löfkvist, Denifl) were echoed by the performance of two young Swiss-German riders in a two-up time trial under the sun of Normandy, of all places.

Taking one place in the top-10 at the Duo Normand two-man team time trial Marcel Aregger and Patrick Schelling came away with essential experience for future appointments against the clock.  This year’s event, which is similar to the prestigious and defunct Italian Trophée Baracchi, covered a 54.3 kilometer circuit and was won by Sven Tuft and Luke Durbridge (Orica-GreenEdge), who already won the race last year.

IAM Cycling directeur sportif Eddy Seigneur, who won the Duo Normand in 2004 with his then RAGT Semences teammate Frédéric Finot, was satisfied with the good effort the two 23 year old IAM Cycling riders produced.

“The two Australian winners blew the record away that the Boardman-Voigt pair set in 1999 by about 20 seconds.  This means that the level of racing was very high.  Marcel and Patrick managed to put in quite an honorable time.  They worked well together and achieved a seamless unity.  This will serve them for years to come, even in individual efforts against the clock.  This kind of race is perfect to help teach a rider how to manage his effort, breathing and technique.”
